Shooting Day 1

 Today was our first day of shooting.As our video is very spiritual and abstract. We started with shooting the girl's scenes first where she wakes up, looks at the wind chime and starts walking looking for the boy. As the main role of the girl is to be a visual/spiritual representation of the boy's happiness that's why she wakes up and looks for him, which basically means that as the girl finds him it will mean that the boy has finally won the battle against depression and is a happy person now. Also the wind chime is an object that shows her presence hence her looking at the wind chime means that she is there i.e somewhere the boy's happiness is present but he just has to find it.

 All these scenes were shot with a Nikon D7100, with 18-140mm lens, at ISO ranging between 100-500. In the start as it was daylight we mainly kept the ISO between 100-200 and Shutter speed between 1/60 to 1/80. As the sun started setting and the light got dimmer we rose the ISO to 500 and kept the Shutter Speed the same. Also we took all these shots and 60fps as in post production we would edit and make them run in slow motion to give a more dramatic look.
As the Cinematographer/DOP I had in mind on what shots and angles I was supposed to take that would enhance the look of our music video hence today I used different shots and angles ranging from establishing shots, wide angle shots, close ups, high angle shots and low angle shots.

 

This is the final look of our actress which was inspired by Turkish series "Kiraz Mevsimi'' episode.The reason we dressed our actress in white was since the color white represents purity, empowerment, spirituality and peace. Basically the boy is lacking peace and happiness whereas the girl is being represented as a spiritual character and that is the reason that along with her white dress we made her wear a white cloak.
Furthermore coming to the make up which was also different than any everyday look with a winged white eye liner and a deep contour with blue shimmery shade on it and a floral head band. This was to make her look different and angelic.
